VIN (Vehicle identification number) is a 17-digit vehicle identification number in which information about the vehicle is encoded. Many people confuse the VIN number with the body number, but these are two different encodings, so in this article we will focus in detail on what the VIN of the car is, where it is located, and what the owner of the vehicle can tell about.

The body number is information about the manufacturer, presented in the form of a cipher of letters and 9-12 digits. The first 4-6 characters specify the model and make of the car, and the rest represent the factory number of the body. It is usually on the floor on the passenger or driver's side or on the windshield (individual box).
A VIN number consists of 17 characters and carries much more information: besides the body number (VIN which is not always indicated), the code sends information about the country of origin, year of production, engine size, transmission. The room is unique and has no analogues in the world.
